If you haven’t heard, Kelly’s Kleaning is now offering a new residential organizing service. With that in mind, we wanted to share a few tips on how to stay organized during one of the busiest times of year.
Make a To-Do List
Let’s be honest, one of the biggest ways to stay organized is by having a to-do list. Whether you have one big list or more than one, write down what you need to do or buy. Maybe you want to keep a list for who you need to buy for and ideas for gifts. Also, you could make a list of what you need to bake and when. If you decide to make one big list, just jot everything down for the whole month of December. Whatever you decide to do, don’t let it overwhelm you!
Keep Things Simple
One way to stay organized is by keeping things simple. This holds true for a lot of aspects around the holidays. Don’t get too extreme on what festive meal you’re thinking about making. Keep gifts simple and don’t go overboard. Remember what the reason for the season is. The less “stuff” you and your family end up with after the holidays, the less you’ll have to find room for!
Now, for a few tips for “after the big day!”
Organize As You Go
After Christmas has passed and you have all of these new items that need to find a home, utilize the time to organize! Clean out your closets and get rid of anything you don’t use or wear anymore. Go through your children’s toys and donate or toss any that they haven’t played with in a while.
Maybe this task is not something you want to take on; why not hire a professional? Contact Kelly’s Kleaning today and let’s discuss our residential organizing services and how we can help you find your home again after the holidays.
Be Smart About Storing Decorations
Instead of just taking everything down and throwing them in boxes, be smart about it. Here are a few ideas:
- Have a different box for each room in your house and put the decorations for that room in their own box. This will help you next year when you can’t remember what decorations go where! Don’t forget to label your boxes!
- Use clear plastic containers so you can see what is in each box.
- Get a handy ornament holder. For many of us, our ornaments are sentimental and we don’t want them to be ruined by being thrown into a box. Many local stores sell ornament storage boxes that will help to, not only keep your ornaments organized but also, keep them safe!
We hope you have a great holiday season! And, don’t forget, if you are in the market to start your 2020 off right with an organized home, give us a call. We are excited about our new residential organizing services and look forward to helping you get that clean, organized home you’ve been waiting for!
