The holiday season is here and with that comes shopping, decorating, get-togethers… just to name a few. But also with the holidays many out-of-town family members come home. And someone has to provide them with a place to stay. Is your home that place? Or is this the first year you’ll be hosting guests? Either way, with everything going on preparing your home for them may be the last thing you want to worry about. What if we had a few tips to share with you that would make it look like you spent a long time preparing your house for them? You would probably want to know them, wouldn’t you? Well, today is your lucky day! Here are some great tips on how to make them feel welcomed and special!
Whole House
The day before they arrive or the day they arrive, recruit your family to help you in getting the house ready. Do a quick walk through and have everyone clean up. It has been said your house is never as clean as the 15 minutes before guests arrive. Here is your chance!
Guest Bedroom
Make sure the bed is made with fresh, clean sheets. Also, add an extra throw blanket at the end of the bed just in case. Make sure the decorations are inviting. Provide space in the closet for your guests to hang their items.
Guest Bathroom
Make sure to give your guest bathroom a deep clean. Also, leave fresh towels out. It’s also a thoughtful idea to have travel size toiletries in a basket. This can be a quick thing to put together that really makes it look like you went the extra mile!
If you don’t have a guest bathroom, be sure to give the bathroom they will be using a deep clean. Leave a set of fresh towels on their bed and still have a basket of toiletries out, just in case they need something.
Kitchen
Top off making them feel welcomed by having their favorite drinks and snacks on hand. If you know them already, that’s great. If not, just ask them a few days before they arrive. Then when you’re at the store doing your normal shopping, be sure to pick those items up.
Taking a few minutes to do these extra preparations will be the perfect way to make your guests feel welcomed into your home during the holidays.
