Quick Summer Cleaning Tips

Kellys Kleaning has some quick summer cleaning tips for you to help keep your home clean.

With all the hot weather, summer has arrived early! Summer means fun and relaxation, so you don’t want to spend too much time on summer cleaning when you could be at the pool or on a walk. Here are some tips to help keep your house clean without losing much time in the sun.

Clean in the morning – If you have a certain cleaning task you want done, get out the coffee and do it first thing in the morning. It can help wake you up with activity while avoiding having to toil away in the summer heat.

Pool toys – You and your family may bring pool toys or regular toys in the water to have more fun, but no matter what, a moldy toy is bad. All toys should be checked for water and dried. Try shaking the toy to see if there’s any water sloshing around and squeeze it out if possible. When you can’t get the water out, put the toy in rice for a while, like you would with a wet electronic. Let as many toys as you can sit in the sun to dry.

Beach towels – After having fun at the pool or the beach, wash the towels on their own and dry without a dryer sheet. Dryer sheets can reduce absorbency.

Swimsuits – Pools are great fun, but chlorine can do long-term damage to swimsuit fabric. That’s part of the reason swimsuits stretch out like they do! After changing, rinse your swimsuit with regular water. This helps remove remaining chlorine with the bonus of cleaning off any loose dirt.

Grill cleaning – The grill can get very messy very quickly after making half a dozen hamburgers and hot dogs so often. Brush the grill while it’s still a bit warm so the food residue comes off easier.

Keeping these summer cleaning tips in mind can help keep the summer feeling relaxing and fun without giving up on cleanliness.
