Let’s Not Make it a Trick, but a Treat!
Since Halloween is just around the corner, let’s discuss a few things you should do to prepare your home for trick-or-treaters! You want to make sure your home is safe, welcoming and of course clean! But in this blog, we won’t be worrying about the inside of your house, rather the outside!
Start by cleaning your stairs and walkways. Get out a broom and get sweeping! Make sure there aren’t any major cracks or that your railing isn’t wobbly. If you find any, take time to fix them, or be sure to let it be known about the issue the night of trick-or-treating. You don’t want to worry about any falls or injuries on your property!
Beef up the lighting. How is the lighting for your front porch and walkway? If you need new bulbs, take time to replace them. Also consider putting walkway lights out. Another fun thing to do is to take rope lighting and lay them along side your walkway! This may be a great addition to your decorations! (Just make sure they are out of the way so no one trips on them.)
Decorate safely. Have fun with how you decorate but you want to make sure the decorations don’t block the way to your door! Also, keep in mind, if you have any carved pumpkins, use battery operated candles to light them up, not flamed candles.
Have options for treats. Don’t stick to just having candy! There are some kids that may not be able to eat candy, so have other options like fruit, stickers, or even little games that you can find in the party favor aisle!
No matter how you decide to decorate or what you decide to hand out, make it fun and safe at the same time!! Until next time, Happy Halloween!
